Summary and key takeaways

Symbotic reported fiscal Q2 2026 revenue of $676.5 million, up 23.1% year-over-year and above the $662.7 million estimate. However, EPS of $0.01 missed the $0.11 estimate by over 91%. Net income was $9 million, versus a $10 million loss a year earlier — a genuine swing to profitability, though heavily pressured by $57.19 million of stock-based compensation. Adjusted EBITDA of $78 million more than doubled from $35 million a year ago. Active deployed systems grew to 70 from 46 a year earlier.

Analysis

The revenue-beat-but-EPS-miss pattern here is explained almost entirely by stock-based compensation ($57.19 million) — a real cost, but a non-cash one, and worth separating from the underlying operating trend. 93% software revenue growth, nearly double the 24% systems revenue growth rate, is the more forward-looking signal: Symbotic's warehouse-automation software attach is scaling faster than the hardware deployments themselves, a healthier long-term margin mix if it continues.

Guidance

Updated investment thesis

SYM is an Emerging Growth holding on warehouse-automation and robotics deployment, a different kind of "infrastructure" thesis than the AI-compute names elsewhere in the book — genuine diversification. The swing to positive net income and doubling of Adjusted EBITDA, even with an EPS miss driven by stock-based comp, are consistent with the deployment-scaling thesis progressing.
